Bogie Appeal:
Progress on the restoration has reached the bogies and we are calling out for your support. The amount of work required below the solebar is going to cost more than the current level of donations already received from our members.
Amongst the work required are: Axle journal restoration & tyre turning, re-manufacture of the traction motor linkages, overhaul of the traction motors, manufacture of new gearing, replacing the bogie’s air pipe-work, rust removal, painting the superstructure, hire of the crane and loco jacks.

We have been given a unique opportunity by one of our members to match any donation given in this appeal. This means that for every £1 received before the 30th of June 2020, it will be matched up to £15,000, which with gift aid could be worth £37,500 to the society. We are therefore asking our members and supporters to donate what you can to maximise this opportunity to raise funds. For every £1 donated means £2.25 or £2.50 if you gift aid too. Thank you for your continued support of our charity. This is the remaining major hurdle to get this unique locomotive restored to working order.
