2 July 2008

Wednesday 2nd July : Despite numerous attempts at trying to organise a date to shunt D8233 back into it’s regular home on road 6, the loco having still has been stored on the south end of the diesel loco 'stack' down at Baron Street where it has been largely inaccessible.

Other commitments and activities at the ELR have prevented its movement, however on the Wednesday of the diesel gala, it was found that Chris B and Chris T were both free for the day so the opportunity was taken to finally move D8233 back into its home along with our support coach and the Co-Bo.

Once back in position the two Chris’s rigged up some lights for the No.1 nose end and the Engine/Generator compartments. Chris B painted the bodywork at No.1 end where the marker light bowls sit ready for them to be re-fitted.

Meanwhile in the coach we decided that, being as we’ve put the sleeping compartment back into use, we needed some more living facilities, so the 2 Chris’s went off and bought a small fridge and a microwave. These are now supported on brackets on the coach wall. Chris T’s next project is to put a ring main into the sleeping compartments so we can use alarm clocks, charge mobiles etc.

The next working weekend is July 19/20. If you wish to lend a hand please contact Chris Tatton
